Alameda’s history

Collection

Alameda is a town in south-eastern Saskatchewan, about 50 kilometres east of Estevan. Its name is Spanish for "Poplar Grove" or "Tree Lined Avenue." A popular story says the town was named after Alameda, California, though there is no written documentation to support it.
